Vertical farming in Ethiopia

Agriculture

Challenge Background

Our challenge is failure to establish a sustainable farming livelihood in nomadic areas. it has several causes: 1. Lack of knowledge, skills, and resources. This includes insufficient knowledge of soil management, climate patterns, irrigation methods, or crop selection. 2. Lack of government support and infrastructure: challenges in accessing markets, credit, and other resources needed to establish a sustainable farming livelihood. For example, roads and transportation networks may be inadequate or non-existent, making it difficult for farmers to transport their crops to markets. 3. Climate change: Droughts, floods, and other extreme weather events are becoming more frequent, and this can have a devastating impact on crops and livestock. Birrama is actively seeking strategic partners to collaborate with, in order to boost agricultural productivity and stabilize the escalating prices of essential food items in the country. We are seeking partners who can bring valuable expertise, substantial resources, and innovative solutions to the table to help achieve our goals and drive positive impact for small commercial farmers.

What we are looking for

Birrama is interested in vertical farming technologies and practices that can help maximize crop yields in limited space, especially those experts in soilless farming. We are seeking partnerships with organizations and individuals who can provide access to such technologies to support our mission of building a more sustainable and resilient agricultural sector.
